How to Get to Long Bay Beach Resort Tortola

Private Transportation provided by Long Bay Beach Resort

There’s several ways to get to Long Bay Beach Resort in Tortola, BVI, but before we get into that, you’ll need a passport to visit the British Virgin Islands. You can read my post on how to find the best flight prices here.

  1. Direct flight to Tortola – The fastest and most convenient is to fly directly into Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Beef Island.
  2. Fly via San Juan, Puerto Rico – If direct flights from Miami are unavailable or too pricey, connecting through Puerto Rico is a great alternative route to reach Tortola. Fly into San Juan on major airline, then take a short inter-island connecting flight to Tortola (via carriers like Cape Air)
  3. Fly to St. Thomas, USVI and Take a ferry to Tortola – The most popular and generally the most budget-friendly option. However it does require coordinating taxis and ferry schedules. Check ferry schedules here

The Route We Chose to Long Bay Beach Resort

Road Town Fast Ferry from Red Hook St. Thomas to West End Tortola

Since we were spending a few days in USVI before heading over to Tortola, this was the best way to get to Long Bay Beach Resort for us.

  • First, we flew nonstop from Newark, NJ (EWR) to St. Thomas (STT), which took about 3.5hrs.
  • Next, we arranged for Private Car Service with Exclusive Limousine to pick us up from Charlotte Amalie Airport (STT) and take us to Red Hook Ferry terminal, approx. 35 min drive.
  • Then, we took the Road Town Fast Ferry to West End, Tortola. The ferry ride is approx. 30 minutes long
  • Finally, we cleared customs in Tortola. Long Bay Beach Resort had private transportation waiting for us, and within 10 minutes we were checking in to paradise.

If you’ve never been to the British Virgin Islands, don’t let getting there intimidate you. It’s actually a very smooth trip and easier than you think.

Inside the Ocean Presidential Suite at Long Bay Beach Resort Tortola

We were invited to experience the newest room category at Long Bay Beach Resort – The Ocean Presidential Suite, and from the moment we stepped inside, we knew this was going to be a stay we would never forget.

The suite is bright, spacious and beautifully designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with natural light and showcase uninterrupted views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Every room feels thoughtfully curated, blending modern luxury with laid-back elegance of island living.

During our stay, we found ourselves sitting outside first thing in the morning with a diet coke (yes you read that right…we love diet coke in the morning LOL), listening to the waves and soaking in those incredible Caribbean views.

Perfect for families, couples traveling together, or a group of friends, this suite comfortably accommodates up to six guest and features:

  • Three spacious bedrooms with balconies & views that take your breath away
  • Three private ensuite bathrooms
  • A beautiful open-concept living room
  • Full Kitchen
  • Private Infinity pool
  • Two outdoor soaking bathtubs with breathtaking Caribbean views
  • Outdoor showers and swings
  • Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to relax and take in the views

Hospitality at Long Bay Beach Resort That Makes You Feel Like Family

Beautiful resorts are wonderful, but it’s the people who truly make a stay memorable. One person who really stood out during our stay was Akil. From the moment we arrived, he made sure we had everything we needed, including a Rum Punch to sip on as we checked into the Resort. Whether he was checking in with us, answering questions, or making sure every detail of our stay was perfect, his genuine hospitality made us feel incredibly welcome. Those personal touches are what turn a great vacation into an unforgettable one.

Dining at Long Bay Beach Resort Tortola

We honestly didn’t know what to expect when it came to the food, but my goodness…we were very impressed with everything we ate! Best of all, there’s several restaurants on site, so you don’t even have to leave the resort if you don’t want to.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

Breakfast with a view – yes please! Breakfast at 1748 Restaurant was impressive and I have to talk about the banana and coconut cream pancakes…Oh My Goodness! If they’re on the menu during your visit, order them. Trust me on this – I’m not even a fan of pancakes to be honest, but these pancakes were delicious!

Lunch and Casual Bites to Eat

For a more casual meal, we stopped by Johnny’s Beach Bar (sits directly on Long Bay Beach) for a few appetizers and drinks. The conch fritters were fantastic, but even better than the conch fritters, was the Truffle Parmesan Wings…soooo good!

Dinner at 1748 Restaurant

We enjoyed dinner at 1748 Restaurant both evenings of our stay, and ended up ordering steak and lobster both nights because it was that delicious. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and paired with gorgeous sunset views, it was one of the highlights of our trip.

Long Bay Beach – One of Tortola’s Most Beautiful Beaches

One of my favorite parts of the resort was simply spending time on Long Bay Beach. The beach is exactly what you picture when you dream about the Caribbean. Soft white sand, crystal clear turquoise water and the most peaceful atmosphere. The resort’s beach cabanas were the perfect place to unwind with a good book or simply relax and listen to the sounds of the ocean. My only caution about the beach is, it is hard to swim there because rocks are a natural part of the water. However, you can still enjoy the water by paddle boarding.

Pool & Swim-Up Bar at Long Bay Beach Resort

As much as we loved the beach, we also spent plenty of time relaxing around the resort’s gorgeous pool. The swim-up bar quickly became one of our favorite spots. Of course, we ordered one of our favorite Caribbean cocktails – a Painkiller, and we also grabbed lunch while we were here too…best caesar salad with shrimp and grilled chicken wrap ever! Hmmmm…I could go for that wrap right now.

The Best Spa Experience at Long Bay Beach Resort

If you’re planning a stay at Long Bay Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and book a spa treatment. Kizi helped me decide on a Hot Stone Massage with Beverly and handled booking the appointment and sent reminders to my phone.

It was honestly one of the most relaxing massages I’ve ever experienced. In fact…I enjoyed it so much that I booked another massage with Beverly the very next day. Need I say more?

Activities at Long Bay Resort

Even though we were only here for 3 days and were perfectly happy relaxing during this visit, the resort offers plenty to do.

Guest can enjoy:

  • Beach yoga (every Thursday & Sunday at 8:00am)
  • Pickleball & Tennis
  • Fitness Center
  • Water Activities
  • Day Cruises
  • Scenic Island Drive Tour
  • Dive Safari
  • Day Spa
  • Nanny Service

We didn’t have enough time to experience everything, but they’re definitely on our list for our next visit.
