Ultimate Packing List for a Dream Yacht Charter Vacation

If you’re reading this post, you’re probably planning a yacht charter vacation in the near future. If not, we suggest you start planning one ASAP. We went on our very first All Inclusive Yacht Charter Vacation where we sailed through the British Virgin Islands and honestly, it was the best vacation we’ve ever been on! Read full recap herehttps://eatdrinkvacationrepeat.com/luxury-all-inclusive-yacht-charter-experience-british-virgin-islands/ or watch the video we posted on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJugdaNuS1-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==.

Unlike traditional vacations, space on a yacht (catamaran) is limited, so this stress-free guide will help you bring everything you need without overpacking.

Swimwear & Coverups

The truth is, we were in our swimsuits majority of the trip. Whether we were lounging on shore, floating on a lily pad, or paddle boarding, we almost always had a swimsuit on. I found this swimsuit on Amazon and absolutely love it. My friend bought the same one in a different color. It has great tummy control and super cute! https://amzn.to/4mECYwE You should plan to bring:

  • 3-4 swimsuits (so that you always have a dry one ready to go.)
  • 3-4 lightweight coverups for women
  • 3-4 spf moisture wicking shirts for men

Coverups and shirts make an easy transition from the yacht to shore for lunch or activities.

Sun Protection

The Caribbean sun can be intense and relentless, so you definitely want to protect yourself. Your yacht charter will have reef safe sunscreen, so no need to pack that. You will need to bring:

  • A wide-brimmed sun hat or cap.
  • SPF lip balm, (easy to forget, but a total lifesaver)
  • Sunglasses (polarized are best for reducing glare off the water)
  • After-sun lotion or aloe if you burn easy. We got most of these items from Panama Jack. We ordered online and they were delivered right on time for our trip! https://panamajack.com/sharon. Use code SHARONPARKER for 15% off!

Casual Lightweight Outfits

The BVI dress code is island casual. Think easy-breezy light weight fabrics like…

  • Flowy sundresses
  • Shorts
  • Soft t-shirts and tank tops
  • Linen shirt/shorts
  • Lightweight sweater for layering in the evening
  • Flip-flops and casual sandals
  • Sun hats or baseball cap

You can leave the fancy clothes at home, but packing 1-2 resort-casual outfits for dinner on shore or a special occasion onboard is a great idea. We were there during Mother’s Day, so we went to Saba Rock for a Special Mother’s Day Dining experience and I wore a flowy maxi dress and Joe wore a button-down linen shirt and shorts. Appropriate Footwear

You’ll mostly be barefoot, which is great! However, you should also bring:

  • Flip-flops or comfortable sandals
  • Sneakers – if you’re planning on any scenic hikes
  • Water shoes are essential for exploring

I bought these water shoes on Amazon and they were perfect for navigating through the granite boulders at The Baths, Virgin Gorda.https://amzn.to/424bXug

Seasickness Prevention

Even if you don’t usually get seasick, pack motion sickness patches, bands or medicine (dramamine). You may not need them, but having them on hand offers peace of mind. We used these patches that stick right behind your ear. They’re non-drowsy and we never felt sick at all! https://amzn.to/4mHXhJM

Toiletries & Basics

Keep toiletries light and simple. Remember, you’ll be in and out of the water most of the day.

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Razor & shaving cream
  • Lotion
  • Minimal makeup
  • Prescription medications
  • Pain Relief medications (Tylenol or Motrin)
